Built around a solid and well-specified receiver, the HT-S7200 has earned its place at the top of Onkyo’s 2009 range of receiver/speaker packages. With five HDMI™ 1.3a inputs, the receiver is fully equipped to handle multiple sources carrying high-def 1080p video and HD audio from Dolby and DTS. The system also handles Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz, which adds a spacious new vertical dimension to movie and game soundtracks. Connected component- or composite-video sources can be upscaled to 1080i and deinterlaced via Faroudja DCDi Edge™ to eliminate unwanted artifacts. Meanwhile, sophisticated Audyssey technologies work to optimize volume levels and adjust the sound stage to suit your room’s acoustics. Further convenience is provided by a Universal Port, which enables one-cable connection of the included Dock for the iPod or Onkyo’s optional HD Radio™ tuner. The highlight of the well-balanced speaker package is a pair of floor-standing, dual-drive tallboys that deliver a fuller mid-range while making a sleek visual statement.

Processing 1080p Video and High-Def Surround Sound via HDMI™ 1.3a - Incorporating HDMI version 1.3a, along with advanced processing capabilities, the HT-S7200’s receiver makes for a powerful A/V control center. Up to five components can be connected via HDMI, including Blu-ray Disc players, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes. The system can then receive and switch high-definition video and output a pristine digital signal to your compatible HDTV. On the audio front, lossless Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ provide a bit-for-bit multichannel soundtrack identical to the studio master track.

Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz for a Spacious New Audio Dimension - Dolby Pro Logic IIz offers the proven quality of Dolby Pro Logic IIx and adds a new vertical dimension to your home theater sound stage. As with previous versions of Dolby Pro Logic, this latest version delivers a convincing surround-sound experience from any movie or music source—even a stereo one. On the HT-S7200’s receiver, Dolby Pro Logic IIz enables you to incorporate two “front height” speakers into your surround-sound set-up as an alternative to the two surround back speakers. The front height channels carry ambient, nondirectional audio that helps immerse you even more deeply into your movies and games. With Dolby Pro Logic IIz, rain seems to burst from clouds right above you, and helicopters fly realistically overhead.

A Suite of Audyssey Technologies for the Ideal Listening Environment - The HT-S5200 has three Audyssey technologies to help create the most suitable listening environment for your home.

(1) Audyssey 2EQ™ Room Acoustic Correction Tailors multichannel audio for your home theater by correcting problems both in frequency response and in the time domain (where most of the problems lie) for a clear, precise, and natural sound.

(2) Audyssey Dynamic Volume™ Maintains the desired listening level for all content while optimizing the dynamic range.

(3) Audyssey Dynamic EQ™ for Loudness Correction Solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at lower volumes.

Dedicated Port for Single-Cable Connection of the Dock for the iPod - The HT-S5200 features a proprietary port, located on the rear side of the unit, to which you can connect Onkyo’s Dock for the iPod. The dock sends both video and audio signals through a single cable. Earlier versions of Onkyo’s Dock for the iPod can be connected via our Remote Interactive (RI) system.

Universal Port for Single-Cable Connection of Onkyo Peripheral Devices - The HT-S7200 features a proprietary Universal Port, located on the rear side of the receiver unit, to which you can connect the included UP-A1 Dock for the iPod or the optional Onkyo HD Radio™ Tuner. If you have both peripheral devices, they can easily be “daisy chained” via an input on the UP-A1. A key advantage of the Universal Port is that it accepts video and audio signals through the same cable that sends a power supply from the receiver to the device.

Four Game Modes for More Thrilling Action - A new addition to Onkyo home theater, these four gaming modes create an audio experience with more realism and impact. You can select from Rock, Sports, Action, or Role Playing Game (RPG) modes to match your gaming content.
